image I saw a tweet this morning from a prochoice “Christian”, @Kushielsmoon, quoting from a Rolling Stone article. Actually, she quoted the article twice.

The first:

This is what the teaparty is: “A hall full of elderly white people in Medicare-paid scooters, railing against government spending and imagining themselves revolutionaries as they cheer on the vice-presidential puppet hand-picked by the GOP establishment. If there exists a better snapshot of everything the Tea Party represents, I can’t imagine it.”

And the second:

This is what the teaparty is: “”You’ve been picking up a check from the government for decades, as a tax assessor, and your wife is on Medicare. How can you complain about the welfare state?”
“Well,” he says, “there’s a lot of people on welfare who don’t deserve it. Too many people are living off the government.”
“But,” I protest, “you live off the government. And have been your whole life!”
“Yeah,” he says, “but I don’t make very much.””

I guess you thought the ridicule was funny, believe me, it wasn’t! I can’t express how upset I was when I read those tweets. The blind nerve it takes to ridicule the elderly folks that made this country what it is. The people that worked their asses off, so you don’t have to!

You have ridiculed the teaparty again and again. That’s fine, that’s politics. But to throw the elderly and disabled under the bus like you did is inexcusable! You have shown a complete lack of respect and  compassion for the senior citizens of this country. You ridicule those that are on Medicare, which by the way, they EARNED! You ridicule those that have scooters paid for by Medicare, which they also EARNED! I suppose you would rather they are FORCED to walk great distances, when their knees have given out and they just don’t have the strength they did when they were your age?

You ridicule a man that earned his living as a tax assessor? It was his JOB! A government job, but he EARNED his income, it wasn’t welfare!

Would you also say that my brother, who has been a quadriplegic for 35 years, after serving in the United States Air Force, is not ‘entitled’ to an electric wheelchair?  Would you say he should just stay in bed and die?  Because that’s exactly what would happen without it!  He has the legal right to a brand new wheelchair every year.  Yet he makes them last as long as he can, 5 yrs, maybe even 10 or more.  Do you know why he doesn’t exercise his right?  Because it’s wasteful.  He takes no more from the government than he needs to survive.  His saving the government money enables others in need to get the scooters mentioned above.  It’s conservatism and patriotism at it’s best.

We already knew you had no respect for the unborn.  Now you’ve made it crystal clear that you have no respect or compassion for senior citizens and the disabled either.  Christian?  I think not.

Regarding the “hall full of elderly white people” mentioned in your tweet, unlike you who spewed vitriol without knowing what the hell you’re talking about, I went a few steps further. I researched and found what the convention mentioned in the Rolling Stone article was all about. It’s something you should have done before you opened your mouth!

What is the National Quartet Convention? “It is the most spectacular gathering of gospel music artists”. A convention of GOSPEL music artists! Imagine that!

And yes, Sarah Palin was there. Strange how an appearance by her, can bring out the absolute worst in people, people like you.  Do yourself a favor and LISTEN to her.  Then think long and hard about the messages you send and the hate you spread.
